Liquid Sunshine Immunity Juice

Updated: Oct 29

My go-to juice for overall health & especially at the sign of illness. You know, sniffles, sore throat, sinus pressure...

Benefits of Juicing

Juicing allows you to consume a concentrated amount of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from fruits and vegetables in a single glass. The quick absorption of nutrients from juice can provide a natural energy boost and support the body’s natural detoxification processes by providing essential nutrients and antioxidants that aid in liver function and overall cleansing. The vitamins and antioxidants in fresh juice can contribute to healthier skin by reducing inflammation and promoting cell regeneration.

This juice is easy to make, packed full of nutrients & tastes delicious.

All you need are three ingredients: carrot, ginger & orange.

Carrots

Carrots are high in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as potassium and antioxidants like beta-carotene, which supports eye health and immune function. The beta-carotene in carrots is converted to vitamin A, essential for maintaining good vision and preventing night blindness & preventing skin damage. The antioxidants in carrots help combat free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and lowering the risk of chronic diseases.

Ginger

Ginger contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds, such as gingerol, which can help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain, particularly in conditions like arthritis. Ginger juice is well-known for its ability to soothe the digestive system. It can relieve indigestion, reduce bloating, and help prevent nausea, including motion sickness and morning sickness during pregnancy. The antioxidants and antimicrobial properties in ginger boost the immune system, helping to fight off infections and reduce the risk of illnesses. Ginger juice can help clear congestion and soothe a sore throat, making it beneficial for treating colds, coughs, and other respiratory ailments & act as a natural pain reliever, particularly for menstrual cramps and muscle soreness. Some studies suggest that ginger may help regulate blood sugar levels. Ginger promotes healthy blood circulation, which can enhance cardiovascular health and help in lowering blood pressure.

Orange

High in Vitamin C, which boosts immune function, helps repair tissues, and promotes healthy skin. Vitamin C also boosts the production and function of white blood cells, which are crucial for defending the body against infections. Regular intake has been shown to reduce the duration and severity of symptoms. Vitamin C in orange juice enhances the absorption of iron from plant-based foods.

Grab your juicer!

(you could use a strong blender like this Vitamix & then strain, but a juicer is going to be optimal)

Proportions of our three ingredients are up to you, depending on your taste preference. I go for 4 parts carrot, 2 parts orange, 1 part ginger. Carrot & orange are both very sweet & ginger is spicy! A little goes a long way!

Wash, chop, juice & sip. Finish with a squeeze of lime if you want a little bit of sour & added electrolytes.

ENJOY!

Additional Cold Fighting Tips

IF you are combatting a cold, I also love to take eldeberry tincture, echinacea & a couple drops of oil of oregano to enhance my body's natural defences and expedite the healing process. Neti pot/salt water nasal rinses are also incredible with a drop of iodine.

Should I buy Organic?

I always aim to shop for organic produce, but do know that CARROTS in particular made the Clean Fifteen list and none of these ingredients are on the Dirty Dozen list so if you want to save here you are making an informed decision.
